ABOUT THE WORLD OF POC

Hi,

We're glad you found us. POC Social Network is the central hub of all the POC clubs. There are 17 local area groups and 4 special interest groups. One may be local or of interest to you. POC stands for "People of Color. "We are an African-American oriented group.  All that means is that we address topics of interest to our members and our events (the music, activities, etc) are more African-American in nature.  We want to make this perfectly clear, we are not an exclusive club but an inclusive club. "ALL" are welcome no matter what race! POC may be the flavor but not the only thing on the menu. We hope that no-one feels excluded by this and will feel free to come and share the good times and experience our culture with us. Our motto in all POC clubs is, "You are not alone." We are a basically a social group but we offer support whenever anyone needs it. Please feel free to reach out to any one of us founders because we don't know what you need unless you tell us.

Just 2 things we are not:

**We are not a 12 step fellowship.  Not knocking them at all. Some of our members are 12 steppers. We don't have a meeting format that we follow, we don't have to announce ourselves to the group and you don't have to share anything to belong. Okay, you don't have to do any of those things if you don't want to at/in a 12step meeting either to belong  but you get what we're saying.  :-)

**We are not a dating club. Don't let this scare you. We'd love to see everyone pair up if that's what you want. We're just saying, join the group and come to events to have a good time. To not be alone. Sometimes we just need to be with people we identify with. People we don't have to have "the talk" with.  We've found that if we go to enjoy ourselves we're not disappointed or discouraged if there are no love connections. But hey you never know.
