First, thank you for considering making a donation to our organization. We assure you that whatever you donate will be appreciated and used to promote Herpes and HPV awareness in the African American communities.
Many cases of notifiable STDs go undiagnosed, and some highly prevalent viral infections, such as human papillomavirus and genital herpes, are not reported at all. (CDC) The infection rate of African Americans is three times higher than that of whites. African Americans with the same number of sexual partners as whites still have a significantly higher risk of herpes infection. (ASHA)
H Freedom Network's primary goal is to support the efforts of the local volunteer organizations (shown below) who provide hope and social support to those with the HSV. We also want to work within the communities to slow the growth trend through the promotion of accurate information, and outreach to STD Clinics, Planned Parenthood Associations, churches, community centers. etc. The typical response to discovering one has HSV is to withdraw and isolate themselves. This can prevent them from getting the kind of information and support that they need to realize that such drastic measures aren't necessary.
The People of Color Social Networking groups.
There are currently 17 local POC groups, that offer monthly social venues and support when needed to their members. They have proven to be valuable tools for personal recovery for those living with Herpes (HSV) and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Our objective is to be able to give these groups the boost they need to fund lectures, promote healthy living habits and provide venues for spiritual healing through participation in social events.
To do all of this, it will take donations from any concerned person or organization. We need your help to make our goals a reality.
